Panther & Safari 1.1

Woo, nice job Apple. I did the whole 'backup important files and erase' routine last night, and installed Panther this morning (I also attended a film and went to a haunted house last night, so my backup took like 8 hours).

So now that Panther is all installed (3 CDs, and 1 Xcode CD), here are a bunch of links:

If Unsanity could get Metallifizer working on the Finder properly, that would kick ass.

To Dave Hyatt: When are we going to get border-radius in Safari? (look in Mozilla to see how it's supposed to look!) Other than that, though Safari keeps getting better, so yeah, go WebKit team.

Cool stuff to look at:

  • In your Utilities folder, "Activity Monitor".
  • Finder > Preferences > Advanced > "Show all file extensions".
  • Customize Finder toolbar, add "Path". Great little widget (not 100% sure it's new).
  • Double click on X11 or CLI apps, and they will be launched accordingly.
  • System Preference > Energy Saver > Schedule. Man this rocks.
  • System Preferences > Expose. I like to have Expose on my middle mouse button, so I can do it without messing with the keyboard.

Damn, I think I may have copied my iTunes Music Library wrong. Ok, yeah, confirm that.

I didn't deauthorize my computer and I was OK...

Damnit, I'm such a lamer. I need to order this bad boy.

Buzz: You need to deauth only if you erase. You can reauth afterwards, but you'll use a computer "credit" and eventually have to call Apple and explain the whole mess to get it taken off your list of three units.

Re-authorizing a computer shouldn't use an extra authorization. You don't need to deauth unless you're never going to use the computer again.

I didn't de-auth and performed a complete format and install. iTunes asked to be authorized and I was thinking "Crap!" since I already had 3 computers authorized. Inputted my password and it authorized just fine. :)
